Mending
This collection explores the concept of upcycling, transforming imperfect cyanotypes into cohesive artworks through double exposure and delicate, hand-dyed embroidery. Paying homage to the Japanese art of kintsugi, the work emphasizes the beauty found in repair and reinvention. Each piece undergoes meticulous refinement, with embroidery threads often dyed using elements sourced from the landscape—such as madder root, acorn, walnut, mushrooms, and marigold. These natural tones accentuate key elements, celebrating the cyanotype-making process and the significance of mark-making in the artistic journey.
The work has been shown with Carrie Haddad Gallery, Hudson, New York, Second Nature Art, Brooklyn, NY and will be shown as part of a solo exhibition in January 2025 with Sarah Shepard Gallery, Marin County, California.
